Poe Christmas Newsletter 2012

What a year 2012 has been for the Poe’s!!!  We have been blessed beyond belief!  Last year we were about to start showing pigs at this time, well boy howdy have we done just that.  Price is a big time pig show-er!!  He really enjoyed showing his pigs last year, but is just so grown up in the show ring this year.  He has already shown three of his pigs at the Shattuck Jackpot last weekend.  This year we have four gilts; Jessie, Grass, Angel, and Cocoa.

Other than pigs, Price stayed busy this year with going to Miss Becky’s daycare and playing t-ball with his friends this summer.  After refusing to leave the dugout at the first practice he became quite the little player.  Of course every hit was a home run, but he did great stopping the ball and throwing it home.  Price also got to attend EVERY home football game at OU this year.  He loves the ponies and the drum major of the band.  The highlight of the year for Price was becoming a BIG BROTHER!!!

Perry Lund Poe joined the family on June 8, 2012 at 12:43pm weighing in at 8 pounds .8 ounces.  He has been the perfect addition and is the happiest boy.  It is nice with our busy lives to just slow down and listen to Perry laugh at Price.  They love each other very much!  Perry is a growing boy starting solid foods and is on the verge of crawling…watch out world!!

Daresa loves her life as mom, wife, and teacher.  She stays busy at school with her active FCCLA chapter.  She has a state officer this year which has added a few more overnight trips to her schedule, but she is really enjoying it.  She was event chair again this year for the Woods/Alfalfa County Relay For Life which fell just two weeks after Perry’s arrival, but the event was a huge success.  She likes to hang with her boys, do pinterst projects, and have friends and family over.

Allan continues to enjoy his job at Northwest Technology Center.  He stays busy with his growing cattle herd.  The goat herd has really grown this year.  With another buck on the place, breeding season is in full swing!!  We might be to the point of officially saying we live on a goat farm! J  He enjoys buying animals for kids in the area and attending stock shows as well.  Price is a huge help when sorting goats and feeding cows.  Allan loves his boys and that Price can go with more all the time.

We hope that you and your family are doing well.  We are looking forward to spending time with friends and family this holiday season.  We hope that you and yours have a wonderful Christmas and a blessed New Year.

Love,
The Poe’s

Goin' Showin' with the Priceman

Well...It's official!!  Price is a big time showman!!  We attended our first pig show on December 28th in Cheyenne, OK.  Price showed all three of his pigs...Cheese, Turkey, and Chicken N Fries.  He did great placing 2nd with each hog.  I was a nervous wreck about it...either I was going to have a meltdown or Price was! :)  But we survived the day and loved every moment of it.  We then attended the Woodward Pig Show on December 31st and January 1st.  Allan was in charge of this show and stayed very busy.  Price and I got to do a couple fun things like get ice cream and nap in the hotel!! :)  All the grandparents made it over on Saturday to watch Price show.  My favorite part about watching him is when he is looking and smiling at the crowd while whacking his pig! :)  It's the cutest thing you have ever seen.  He did great showing at Woodward as well.  He only tried to show another kid's pig once...thank goodness it was a friend of ours!  Here are some pictures...enjoy!

Getting last minute advice from dad!  About to enter the show ring for the first time EVER!!

Smiling at the crowd! :)

This is one proud Momma!!  He does so well and LOVES it!!  He is always ready to go to another show to show his pigs!!  We are planning on attending more shows...2 in January and another in February!!

Until next time!

2011 In Review

Well as you can see keeping up with the blog throughout the year has not gone as planned.  But here is a glimpse into what the Poe’s have been up to in 2011.

On July 1st Allan started a new job as the Ag Business Management Coordinator at Northwest Technology Center in Alva and Fairview.  He is enjoying the new position and the change of pace.  Allan recently did some traveling to St. Louis for the new job and had a nice trip.  He continues to grow his cattle herd and stays busy with the goats as well.  Allan truly loves being a dad and enjoys that Price is big enough to help in with all the animals.

Daresa still loves being the Family and Consumer Science Teacher at Waynoka.  She is in her third year and enjoys every minute of it.  Her students are great at making her look good as she has 2 state winners and 6 students qualify for the national competition in Anaheim, California.  Price accompanied here to sunny California for a week of leadership workshops and competition….well a little fun at Disneyland too!!  Relay for Life keeps Daresa busy as well.  We had a very successful season last year and are gearing up for another great event in June.  Daresa loves all the things she’s apart of but being a mom and wife take the cake!

Price is one growing, independent, toddler!!  He loves going with dad and feeding cows, roping goats, and washing pigs.  Price is going to make his debut in the show ring over Christmas break at a couple pig jackpots.  He has three pigs which are named Turkey, Cheese, and Chicken N’ Fries…all of his favorite foods.  He is definitely ALL BOY; he loves to be outdoors and to play ball.  He got to attend two OU football games this season, so he now runs through the house kicking the football saying “OOOOOOOOOO –U!”  He is at such a fun age right now which means there is never a dull moment at our house.

We are all excited to be growing our family with the addition to arrive in mid-June.  Price is very excited that there is going to be a baby at his house.  He is requesting a baby sister and will find out at our next appointment which is scheduled in January.  So far the pregnancy has been going great.

The Poe’s have had a very busy and blessed year.  We hope that you and your family are doing well.  We are looking forward to spending time with friends and family this holiday season.  We hope that you and yours have a wonderful Christmas and a blessed New Year.

Merry Christmas from The Poe's

Each Christmas I try and write a newsletter letting you all in on what has happened in our lives in the past year.  Well I decided to try and get up with technology and have decided to start a blog so you can follow us throughout the year.  So here it goes…
The Poe’s have had another very blessed year.  Our lives are pretty much centered around Price.  He is one active little man.  He started walking at 10 months and hasn’t slowed down since.  He still loves being outdoors and seeing all of the moo’s, goats, and pigs.  His highlights are playing every type of ball, checking cows with dad and riding on the 4-wheeler through the pasture.  Priced loved spending eight weeks with his mom this summer.  We took in the zoo and the water park.  He is such a smart little guy and keeps us all on our toes!
Allan is in his sixth year as the Ag Teacher in Waynoka.  He continues to be successful and enjoys what he does.  Allan is very proud of his students who were successful again this year.  He again traveled out-of-state to stock shows in Denver and Kansas City.  When he is not busy with stock shows and buying animals, he is checking his own cattle herd which is continually growing.  Allan helped a friend celebrate his 30th birthday in style on the strip in Las Vegas.  He also managed to find time this fall to do some remodeling.  Allan loves being a daddy and enjoys spending time with Price.
Daresa continues to love being a mommy and Family and Consumer Science teacher.  Her students also had great success in their competitive events.  Two of them won state and qualified for Nationals in Chicago.  She got to spend a week in Chicago at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference.  Being away from her boys was hard, but Chicago is amazing in the summer.  Year number two of teaching is much less stressful than her Rookie year, but she is still learning a lot.  Daresa has also taken on the Event Chair position for the Alfalfa/Woods County Relay For Life.  As mommy, wife, teacher, FCCLA Adviser, junior class sponsor, and RFL Chair, the one word that describes her is BUSY, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.
One of our largest highlights just took place this weekend.  We moved to Daresa’s grandparent’s house just north of Waynoka.  We are finally back in the country.  Allan is excited to not have to go drive and feed animals.  Price is excited to have moo’s in his backyard.  And Daresa is excited to have a pantry and laundry room.  It will take a while to get settled, but we are so relieved to be moved!
We are planning on joining some friends in Red River following Christmas morning in our new house.  We are looking forward to spending time with friends and family this holiday season.  We hope that you and yours have a wonderful Christmas and a blessed New Year.
Love,
The Poe’s

As Summer Winds Down the Poe's Wind Up

Hello Friends and Family!!  I used to be so good at keeping everyone informed at what was going on in the lives of the Poe's.  Some of my friends have started blogging and I am going to give it a try...so here it goes!!

Life at the Poe Ranch is going great!!!  We are busy as usually but things couldn't be better!! Here is a little update on each one of us!

Momma Poe is loving her 2nd year of teaching.  It is so much different than my first year.  My FCCLA chapter is growing each day.  We are getting excited for our upcoming District Meeting and are getting decked out in a new chapter t-shirt.  My classes are going great...loving being more creative in each one of them.  My sister is getting married this weekend on the 19th so we have been busy preparing for that.  I have also taken on the role of the chair of the Alfalfa/Woods County Relay For Life.  I am really looking forward to it.  I head to Dallas for training next weekend.  I am also taking a college class right now for my Career Tech certification.  It's Monday nights and makes the week start out kinda BLAH!!  Life is busy but I wouldn't have it anyway.

Allan kicked off stockshow season last week with the Woods County Fair where they had a great showing!  He will be at the Oklahoma State Fair for the next two weekends.  Shortly after that is the Tulsa State Fair and don't forget Kansas City after that!  Gotta love the fall! :)  We have quiet the funny farm going as well.  Our cattle operation continues to grow but we have also diversified as well!  We now have goats and a pig too! :)  Price loves to go and check animals with daddy!  Allan and I recently got to attend the OU season opener together and had a blast.

Price is one busy little man.  He will be 18 months old this month...where has the time gone.  He still loves going to see Miss Tammy for daycare while mommy and daddy are at work.  He gets to hang with 3 little ladies at daycare...he is destined to be a lady's man! :)  He is on the go climbing up on things and running all around.  He still loves water...bottled water, swimming pools, garden hoses and bath time.  He has his well baby check up in a couple weeks.  He is a little chatter box but not much of it is understandable.  He clearly has "NO" down to an art but also says...mom, dad, lady, bite, kitty, and some others.

We are excited to announce that we have started work on my grandparent's house out north of town and hope to be moved by Christmas.  Our families are both doing well staying busy keeping up with us and our madness!  We are living life to the fullest and hope that you and yours are too.  I hope you enjoy our blog...shoot us an update of your family when you get a chance.

Until next time...The Poe's
